MY story
Percy had the most awful start for any puppy. He was sezied as a welfate case after finding him with multiple stab wounds. Despite this heis the sweetest, most loving boy. He has a way of winning over all that meet him! He has had a tough start and has the scars to prove it, but all he wants is love. He absolutely loves human company and is the best cuddle monster. He will often sit on our feet or between our legs and demand cuddles. He doesn’t know his size at all and definitely thinks he’s a lap dog.
He struggles with kennel life for that reason. All he wants is to be snuggled on the sofa with someone. As a result, he will have some separation anxiety initially as he settles in. It will take time for him to feel fully safe and know that these new humans are his and not going anywhere. So new owners will need to be aware of this. He currently struggles when he is left in his kennel, all he wants is company. The quicker we can get him his own sofa, the better.
He loves to play! But can be destructive… he rather likes tearing apart his toys! As long as he has an appropriate outlet for this and lots of options for chewing/ playing, he’ll be your best friend! We’ve been giving him lots of enrichment in the kennels to help with this, which he adores.
He also loves treats and loves to learn! We’ve been teaching him spins, hand touches and sits/ downs. He’s got huge potential for so much more and would be great fun for someone looking for an agility dog or just someone who loves doing training!
Percy has lived in kennels a long time, it will take time for him to settle and feel safe in a new home. However, he is so worth it!!! He has so much love to give. Ongoing training support will be a given and will be provided after adoption.
Although he’s not had lots of interactions with other dogs, he may be able to live with another dog with careful introductions. He gets frustrated when he sees other dogs and hasn’t really ever had the opportunity to learn how ‘to talk dog’ but this is something that can be helped with full training support.
Percy would be best in an adult only home. He can be worried by new people, particularly men, as a result of his past. But he comes round quick and will be giving his signature cuddles in no time.
To help Percy have the best chance of making any new home a successful we would be happy to continue to pay for you and Percy to work with his current behaviorist April for 2 months after his adoption.
MY PERFECT HOME
Percy needs a secure garden with 6ft fencing minimum and no gaps at all.
As with all dogs on going training will be needed.
Percy needs an adult only home. He may be able to live with the right dog but no cats.
