Meet Mr Tom – A Brave Soul Deserving Comfort and Love

When Mr Tom was found, he was minutes from death — a frail, 14-year-old dog struggling to stay afloat in a pond. Cold, frightened, and barely clinging to life, he was rescued just in time. How he ended up there, abandoned and alone, we may never know — but what we do know is that he deserved better.

After a week recovering at the local pound, Mr Tom came into our care. It didn’t take long for us to discover the extent of his suffering. His joints were stiff and painful, and his mouth was in terrible shape — he was in desperate need of a dental just to eat without pain.

But just as we began to plan for his long-term recovery, another obstacle appeared. During a routine vet visit, a large lump was found on his ribs. Tests revealed the worst: Mr Tom has widespread cancer.

There’s no cure. But there is love.

Now on palliative care, Mr Tom is living out his final chapter with a kind and devoted foster dad who ensures every single day is filled with comfort, peace, and gentleness. He receives daily medications and injections to ease his pain and keep him happy. He still enjoys short walks in the sun, soft beds, and the quiet joy of companionship.

We’ve made a promise to Mr Tom: he will never suffer again. He will not die alone or unloved. He will know what it means to be safe.

But we can’t do it alone.
