Meet Oakley 💙

Oakley was actually born here at the rescue after his mum accidentally became pregnant in Romania. We have known him since the very beginning of his life, which makes his story even more special to us.

When Oakley was 12 weeks old, he was adopted. Sadly, it wasn’t long before he was returned to us.

Once Oakley was back in our care, it became clear he was struggling with his legs. After X-rays and further investigations, Oakley was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and Short Ulna Syndrome — two very serious conditions that will affect his mobility and comfort.

Because Oakley is still so young, there is very little that can be done right now to correct these issues. He will stay under our care until he is fully grown, when we can decide whether he will need the very complicated and costly surgeries his legs may require. These procedures could cost upwards of £40,000.

For now, our priority is keeping Oakley pain free, comfortable, and happy. He is on regular pain relief, a good diet, vitamins to support his growth, and has recently started hydrotherapy to help strengthen his muscles and manage his condition.

Oakley has a long road ahead of him, and we don’t yet know what the future holds. But what we do know is that he deserves every chance possible.
